New Season, New Style

2018 is gearing up to be one of our biggest years yet!

Nearly two decades after originally launching Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm, we've made the huge, exciting and somewhat overwhelming decision to undertake a significant rebrand of our product lines and shop display.

You see, growing a business is a lot like raising a child.

You begin with this sweet, precious nugget of an idea that is all yours to name, style and introduce into the world as you please. You have hopes and dreams of success, alongside late-night worries of why you did this to yourself in the first place, and wouldn't it have just been easier to get a dog? But then you see it flourishing and you can't help but swell with pride and chide yourself for having had those negative thoughts at all.

Until your business hits the teenage years. Suddenly it wants to dye its hair purple and do its own thing, and for a little while you let it because it seems to be the right thing to do. Even if you can't sleep at night and you start investing in a plethora of self-help books.

But eventually those years fade out too, and you start to realize that your business can stand on its own, without you. The thought is horrifying and thrilling and exhilarating and terrifying, all at the same time. You cry tears of joy and heartbreak and sometimes a bit of both. It's a bittersweet moment, to see your tiny creation making its own way.

And this, you see, is what our business has been going through too.

From the tiny cottage in the South Kelowna hills, with a few plants and a few products, to our operation today. From a dream, to a hobby, to a second-generation business.

And the changes we're making this season reflect this growth and development that we've all lived through and experienced over the past 19 years. We love this farm and we're passionate about what we do, and we all agreed that it was time for the business to be outfitted with a fresh, new look to show off its well-deserved adulthood.

So how will this affect our products?

On the inside, nothing is changing. We have always been dedicated to crafting natural, plant-based products that are good for the body, earth and soul, through the use of 100% farm ingredients as well as local and sustainably-sourced, organic and Fair Trade oils, butters and botanicals. That is our passion, and it isn't going anywhere!

But on the outside, things will be different. While we've always operated our farm using sustainable practices, we realized our product packaging needed to reflect that as well, so we've pulled almost all plastics in favour of glass and other recyclable, reusable and compostable options.

Our labels are also receiving an overhaul. Their differing styles perfectly demonstrate the growth we've been experiencing over the past few years, and we hope that their new, cohesive look will reflect the maturity we feel our business has achieved, and showcase the incredible products that have always been inside.

Watch for our relaunch when we open for the season in May - we are loving our new style and hope that you will too!
