For the Love of Linen

Ever since opening our doors in 1999, we have sewn most of our sachets and all of our neck and eye pillows. But it wasn't until this past year that we came to realize how many of our beautifully printed fabrics might have been treated with harmful chemicals in the factories where they were being made. We also didn't have any idea where those factories might be because we had always purchased our fabric in bolts from our local fabric store.

So with our big 2018 rebrand focused on sustainability, we unanimously agreed that our fabrics had to follow suit. This began a long process of research and worldwide inquiries before we finally settled on a European linen and textiles producer. The impact of linen production on the environment is minimal compared to other fabrics, and the fabrics from our new supplier are certified to Oeko-Tex 100 standards, ensuring they have been produced without harmful or toxic substances.

Besides being sustainable, linen is also a shining star in terms of wearability:

  • Linen is incredibly strong and long-lasting, and becomes softer over time.
  • Because it isn't treated with any chemicals, it is an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin and irritations.
  • For those of us who work outside for much of the year, we opt to wear linen for its natural sunscreen, as it shields the skin from harmful UV rays.
  • It also wicks sweat from the body, keeping you cool under a hot sun.

We are so glad to have made the switch to such a sustainable, natural textile that is more gentle on the skin, and on the environment too. No need to worry about harmful chemicals in the fabric or its impact on the planet; just pure, natural goodness encasing our beautifully fragrant, farm-grown lavender.
