Our Farm
Roots

  • Our Roots: Okanagan Lavender and Herb Farm
  • 2017
  • Our farm continues to grow and develop with each passing year. Andrea and Dave have been joined in the business by their daughter, Keely, and daughter-in-law, Alyssa, who share their passion for growing, distilling and producing fine quality botanical products. Together with their dedicated staff, they strive to provide customers with an exceptional experience that uplifts and inspires the mind, body and spirit.

  • 2016
  • We are launched as the Okanagan's first Économusée for our lavender essential oil distillation, joining a global network of passionate artisan-entrepreneurs who create authentic, contemporary products from the traditional craft or trade they practice.

  • 2010
  • Our current building is constructed on the property, designed specifically for our unique operation, and the gardens are significantly expanded to their current size.

(Andrea’s nephew and landscape architect, Ben Walker, designed the gardens!)

  • From 1998-2008, the farm grew grapes for Quails’ Gate Winery, but the vines were devastated by the cold winter of 2008 and had to be removed. During this 10 year period, much more lavender was planted and we started to distill the lavender for essential oil and hydrosol.

  • 1999
  • An old apple picker’s cabin on the property is converted into a quaint gift shop and Okanagan Lavender & Herb Farm is born!

  • 1994
  • Andrea and Dave plant a ¼ acre test block of lavender on the property – and it is a success!

  • 1990
  • Andrea and husband Dave inherit this 8 acre parcel from Dick and remove the apple trees in 1998 (they are too old to produce quality apples).

  • 1960
  • Richard’s son Dick (Andrea’s father) leaves the nursery business and is given our property. Dick plants apples on the parcel.

  • 1950

  • Our South Kelowna property becomes part of Stewart Brothers’ Nursery, founded by Richard and his brother in 1911.

  • 1908

  • Andrea’s grandfather (Richard John Stewart) immigrates to Kelowna from County Kildare, Ireland.
