Dry Brushing: A Simple Ritual for Radiant Skin

Nourish your skin and support healthy circulation with the simple ritual of dry brushing—a time-honoured practice that takes just a few minutes before your bath or shower.

Dry Brushing

A quick and restorative practice that gently exfoliates and encourages smoother, more radiant skin.

Just as it sounds, dry brushing involves sweeping the skin with a soft-bristled brush or natural-fibre loofah. The key is to brush in upward strokes toward the heart, stimulating circulation, and removing dull, dry skin cells. Many people find it also helps awaken the senses and improve tone and texture over time.

There’s no strict rulebook—what matters most is consistency and using gentle pressure. Choose a brush with natural fibres and brush on dry skin before bathing or showering.

It's important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to dry brush, as long as it's done in the direction of the heart. Using a brush with natural fibres instead of synthetic will also help avoid irritation to the skin.

Skincare Tip: Blend 1 tsp of our Lavender Bath and Body Oil into your favourite unscented lotion to deeply moisturize your skin following bathing.

Dry Brushing Ritual: Step-by-Step

Renew your skin in 6 simple steps:

1. Prep your brush. Add a few drops of your oil blend to a natural-bristle brush or loofah. We like to use our Lavender Bath & Body Oil

2. Start at the feet. Brush from the soles up to the ankles, then continue upward along each leg toward the hips.

3. Move to the hands and arms. Begin at the fingertips and brush toward the wrists, then up toward the shoulders.

4. Brush the back and torso. Work from the back around to the sides, then from the lower abdomen up toward the chest—all in the direction of the heart.

5. Massage in any remaining oil. Lightly rub over the body to nourish dry areas.

6. Rinse. Shower or bathe to wash away loosened dead skin cells. Skin is left soft, smooth, and revitalized.

Facial Care: Hydrate and Tone Naturally

While dry brushing is a beautiful way to refresh and revitalize the body, your face deserves equal attention—especially in the warmer months when sun, wind, and heat can leave skin feeling parched or reactive.

After cleansing, it’s important to replenish moisture and support your skin's natural hydration - that’s where our botanical toners come in.

Our Rose Hydrosol, distilled at our farm from fragrant Okanagan roses, is rich in natural humectant properties, meaning it helps attract and retain moisture. It’s especially soothing on skin that’s been exposed to sun, wind, or dry air, making it a perfect post-cleansing ritual in summer.

Alternatively, choose one of our plant-powered toners depending on your skin’s needs:

  • Dry Skin Facial Toner
A refreshing base of lavender, rose and spearmint hydrosols blended with pure essential oils to calm and restore thirsty, stressed skin.

  • Sensitive Skin Facial Toner
A base of rose hydrosol blended with pure essential oils to reduce redness, perfect for delicate complexions.

How to Use: After washing your face, lightly mist with your chosen toner or hydrosol. While skin is still damp, apply your serum or moisturizer to lock in hydration.

This gentle step takes just a moment but goes a long way in supporting healthy, balanced, and radiant skin.
